KiEun holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. After earning her degree, she moved to Hawaii, where she is now licensed as a counselor. Before settling on the Big Island, KiEun worked internationally for 20 years as a counseling trainer. Today, she is dedicated to supporting her clients with hope and guiding them through their healing and recovery process. She is fluent in Korean (한국어를 잘함).

KiEun has extensive training and experience in addressing cross-cultural issues for both individuals and families, including immigrant families (such as Asian Americans) and blended families. She is committed to helping these families become healthier, stronger in love, and more functional and mature. KiEun focuses on enhancing individuals’ self-awareness and personal growth, which in turn positively impacts family dynamics. Her expertise includes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Family Systems approaches, values clarification, cultural awareness, and LERQinLEAF (Listening, Empathy, Reflection, Question in Love, Education, Application, and Follow-up).

KiEun is also passionate about assisting individuals and couples through life transitions, especially cross-cultural adjustments, as well as grief, depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship conflicts, communication skills, stress management, wellness life skills, and spiritual direction. She specializes in Sandplay therapy for those struggling with grief, depression, PTSD, and long-term emotional wounds. Her general approach is to create a safe environment where clients can take ownership of their issues, leading them towards recovery, growth, and holistic healing in mind, body, spirit, and relationships.
